Bambu Lab PETG Matte Has Landed — Tough PETG With a Velvet Finish

Bambu Lab's new PETG Matte combines PETG strength with a smooth matte surface that hides layer lines. Eight colours, spool or refill, in stock at our South Wales shop.

PETG has always been the workhorse filament: tougher than PLA, happy outdoors and in warm places, and far less brittle. Its one weakness was looks — that glossy, slightly plasticky shine that shows every layer line. Bambu Lab's new PETG Matte fixes exactly that.

What's different about it

PETG Matte prints with a soft, velvety surface instead of a shine. Light scatters off the surface rather than reflecting, so layer lines practically vanish and parts look moulded rather than printed. You keep everything that makes PETG useful: impact resistance, a little flex before it breaks, and better heat and moisture tolerance than PLA.

The colours

There are eight to choose from: Black, White, Gray, Lime, Avocado Green, Baby Blue, Pink and Violet. Every colour comes on a spool or as a cheaper refill for your reusable Bambu spool.

What we'd use it for

  • Functional parts that people see — enclosures, brackets, organisers, camera mounts.
  • Outdoor items — plant labels, garden fittings, bike accessories.
  • Kitchen and bathroom bits where PLA would soften or warp.
  • Gifts and display pieces where a premium matte finish matters.

Printing tips

  • Use the Bambu Studio PETG Matte profile as a starting point. It's tuned for AMS printers.
  • A textured PEI plate gives the best release and a matching textured bottom face.
  • Keep it dry. PETG soaks up moisture, and wet filament strings and loses that clean matte surface.
  • Slow the outer walls down a little for the most even finish.
